Tossing out a decade or more of notes
punch-holed paper, binders, copies that can go
back to the trees. Terry Riley's "In C"
        a base line
        re-set

for a daily. In daily C., and from there
repetitions, any number of permutations
      branching out: okir, okkil, olallie
      1 - 2 - 3

Learning to count octopi
                    learning to count
again

like learning to wake up, to
      discard the dream

is necessary. every day.

Random lines from my bookshelf:

"The moment Durrell arrived the champagne started flowing.
Henry told me that 'Larry' drank because his sciatica
itched, but the sciatica itched because he drank. It was
a vicious circle." -- Tom Schiller, "Work in Progress,"
from Ping-Pong: Journal of the Henry Miller Library
